Everything in this village is self serve, but please remember to take things in moderation.

The inn
An old bar with a couple empty rooms above it. The bar is stocked with fresh and vintage booze alike.

Accessible rooms are near-empty other than a blood stained mattress and a chair or two. The side of the inn closest to the old clock tower is caved in and is only supported by the pieces of fallen roof.

Wilhelm's Bakery
This place is stocked daily with a wide supply of freshly baked goods. The sweet smell wafting from it almost makes you forget what you can only assume happened here.

the General store
For all your non-baked food and other random needs. Anything (except things that can be used as weapons) can be found here to make you feel at home. This place also has working coolers so if you need milk you can rest assured that it's fresh.

Also unlike the Inn, it appears this place has been reinforced to prevent the roof from falling under the weight of the clock tower.

Gretta's Flower Shop
The flower shop is only notable due to the fact it seems to be perfectly untouched for the past 50 years. The wilted cobweb covered flowers give it an eerie feeling, but also strangely welcoming. The flowers can either be used as kindling or an offering to your dead friends. It's really up to you what you want to do with the leftover flowers.

Oh, and please don't mind the dried blood behind the counter.

Player Houses
Depending on how many characters there are in the game plays a big role on how many houses there are. The blue areas are for zoning purposes only. For more information on the houses, please see the housing post.

Clinic
Hurt? Then grab some freshly stocked first aid supplies here. Just don't mind the smell coming out of the locked basement.

Cafe
If you need to cook something and don't want to use your fireplace, this is the place to do it. Much like the general store, this is one of the only places in village that still has any power to it. Don't worry though, the good doctor has cleaned the stove and pots for you so you don't have to worry about any pesky health risks.

Town Square
The once bustling hub of Nightfall is now covered in rusty tables and chairs, blood stains, and weeds. The fountain that once served as a centerpiece is nothing more than a smelly blood stained monument to what once was.

Abandoned house
An untouched house that looks like whoever left here was in a hurry. Despite the rotten food smell and the dust, it would seem like whoever lived here just stepped out for some air. The basement seems to have caved in preventing further exploration.

The Church and Graveyard
The church is locked from the inside so normal players can't get in. Victims returning from the graveyard will wake up in the church without any memories of their death or how they even got into the locked church in the first place. Upon exiting the doors will once again lock behind them.

Friends of the victims can visit their graves and leave offerings for them.

Other Places
The following places are locked and boarded up. No one can get in, but it's possible to see through the boards in some places.

1. The rusty sign says it was a haberdashery at one point.

2. Completely empty. Might have been connected to the haberdashery, but it's hard to tell through the wavy glass.

3. Has a ton of broken glass, stains, and other debris inside. The sign is too far gone to decipher what it once was.

4. Whoever boarded this place up did a better job than the other places. It's impossible to see through the boards.

5. The heavy metal door is locked and there are no windows to see what's inside. It's possible that this might have been a back door or an emergency exit of some kind.

WALL: It seems newer than the other structures around town. Unfortunately there's no way to scale it (No footholds and covered in sheet metal) or go through it for that matter. Someone really doesn't want you snooping around number 6.

These places are open to the public with the exception of the clock shop and not boarded up:

7. Ye ol' Toy Shope: There's still some broken toys strewn about. But other than that, this place is empty.

8. Grand Clock Shop: Located below the pile of lumber that once was the clock tower. It's inaccessible due to the collapsed roof. However, the outside wall and remaining windows seems to be once again covered in a great deal of old set-in blood.

9. Blue Books: If it wasn't for the sign outside the remains of the bookshop would be indistinguishable from any other semi-empty shop in town. The shelves are bare and any books that were there have been ripped apart.

10. Town Hall: It's been entirely ransacked. All that's left is broken glass, a desk, and blood stains on the carpet.

Introduction

No matter where you were just a second ago or what you were doing...you're going to black out and wake up in a dimly lit room in a rundown Bavarian looking village.

Where are you?
How did you end up here?
Who brought you here?

These are the questions that run through your mind before finally noticing the box at the side of your bed. There seems to be a note attached:

WELCOME TO NIGHTFALL!

Congratulations ______ You have been chosen to participate in a most wonderful experiment!

As you're reading this letter you are most likely wondering where you are. In which case I would like to be the first to welcome you to Nightfall Village. Legally this town no longer exists on any maps, and no one has set foot here for 50 years. So naturally I have chosen this remote location to hold my groundbreaking experiment.

Anyway, Once you're settled I will send you a new letter documenting your role in the grand scheme of things. In the mean time I'd advise you not to consider this an experiment, but as a vacation of sorts. A break from your stressful lives back home (wherever that is), if you will. I've taken great care in cleaning up this village as best I could. I have also stocked the appropriate stores with food and supplies. I can only hope that you will enjoy your short stay here.

Trust no one,
- Dr. Harold [Unintelligible]

P.S. Trying to abandon this little project of mine is punishable by death. After all there are wolves and bears in the forest that would love to eat you and the nearest inhabited town is more than 150 miles away. So I would advise any would be deserters to rethink their plans.

The letter just raises more questions, so you decide to take the easy way out and do some exploring in hopes of finding someone you can milk for directions but no one seems to know anything about this place other than what was stated in the letter. To make matters even worse, there doesn't seem to be anyone working in the shops here and the whole place doesn't look like it's been inhabited or taken care of in years.

That's when you notice it...the big stains in front of the clock shop and on the broken fountain. Your confusion starts to give way to unease....

You didn't sign up for this....

You didn't sign up for anything.

Setting

Your character is now stuck in Nightfall, a small rundown German village in the middle of a very thick forest. It's impossible to tell just by looking at the remaining structures if this place was a real village at one point or just a well built tourist trap. Whatever it was, it has most certainly seen better days. If looking like an overgrown movie set wasn't bad enough, there's also the added feeling that your character is late to the some kind of tragedy that befell the former inhabitants. The first thing they'll notice is the large blood-like stains that cover the town and it's buildings. The uneasy feeling they feel by just standing in the middle of town square is only just the beginning.......

The Locations Page goes into a bit more detail the shops and other places around town.

Game info and Rules

This is loosely based on an old event from [community profile] mayfield_rpg called the Monsters in which the powers that be ended up turning the entire town against each other with nightly victims and a list of possible suspects.

Due to the basis of the game, this game can last anywhere between a few weeks to a few months depending on how many people apply. In short it's a temporary game that may or may not have a sequel.

Also please follow these rules while playing at Nightfall:

- OOC knowledge =/= In-game knowledge Your character doesn't know what you know, so please don't go spoiling things.
- CHARACTER DEATH HAPPENS IN THIS GAME!!! Please be aware that if your character is chosen as a victim, their corpse will be mutilated anyhow the mod sees fit.
- The only goddmodding to be done is by the mod. If your character feels the need to take matters into their own hands, please plot with the mun of that character before doing so.
- I know it's a given, but please stay active. Activity helps this game last.

FAQ

Q: Is this a Mafia style game?
A: No, it's not. It's a game where randomly generated "victims" die each night and not so randomly generated "suspects" get blamed for those deaths. There is no nightly voting or roles. Everyone is either out to get the culprit or defend their friends from the people who want them dead.

Q: How are the suspects counted?
A: Character relations. Canon relations, whoever your character befriend on the first day here, or simply whoever they live with.

Q: Can my characters keep their powers?
A: No. Any powers and weapons your character has will be taken away. The main goal is to try to peacefully live in this rundown village. We wouldn't want what happened here to happen again now would we?

Q: What happens if my character dies?
A: That's the fun part...they actually die! Once they're dead, they stay dead for good for two (in-game) days. Afterwards they'll respawn at the church without memories of their deaths. The mun can also opt out of respawning and have their character stay dead until the endgame.

Q: Will they ever remember their death?
A: That is classified information.

Q: What happens if my character tries to leave Nightfall through the forest?
A: They get turned around and end up back in Nightfall.

Q:What if I have to leave the game due to unforeseen circumstances?
A: Just post in this thread We'll add your character(s) to the list of victims. Unlike the others they can't come back from the dead at any point in the game, however.

Q: How active do I have to be in this game?
A: Please post in at least two of the in-game day threads (night and graveyard threads also count towards in-game day threads). If you don't, you'll be added to the missing character list reserved for idle players and will basically be dropped from the game.

If you decide to opt out of the respawning, then please try to be active in at least two threads in each graveyard post.

Q: How long do days last?
A: Roughly 3 real days. 2 for daytime, 1 for night threads. However, back tagging is always welcome. Graveyard threads last for 6 days before the characters respawn.

Q: How many characters can I play?
A: You can play up to two characters if you think you're up for it. However, to avoid issues they must be from separate canons.

Q: How many characters can be here from each canon?
A: Cap is set at 15 characters per canon.

Q: How many characters can be apped to the game?
A: Anywhere between a minimum of 60 characters to a maximum of 350. We need as many characters as we can get to have enough victims and suspects.

If you're still confused about anything, please leave a comment here!
